It may seem like no easy feat, but Calgary International Airport (YYC) will continue to provide travellers with an unparalleled passenger experience when its new International Terminal opens its doors to the world later this year.
The terminal will bring onboard many new processes to enhance the passenger experience, including:
- Enhanced passenger pick-up and drop-off processes on the roadway;
- New ways to move through security and customs (both US Customs and Border Protection and CBSA);
- The YYC LINK passenger shuttle, which features electric shuttles to move passengers through the airport in under 10 minutes.
And to help passengers with these new state-of-the-art features, over 150 new members of the airport community will be on the job on opening day.
Aptly named the Customer Care Ambassadors, this contracted service will be focused on assisting passengers from roadway to runway, and everything in between. In their new trademark red uniforms, they will be there, step-by-step, helping YYC guests navigate the various new processes in the International Terminal. Starting from roadway drop-off, Ambassadors will guide them through self-service options in US Customs and Border Protection, drive them from concourse to concourse on the new YYC LINK passenger shuttle system and assist in CBSA for a seamless arrival into Calgary. They will also be found at InfoCentres in each Departures Hall in the International Terminal and both the International and Domestic Arrivals areas to provide information and travel counselling about airport services and amenities.
Debbie Stahl, Director of Passenger Experience at YYC, says, “Providing safety, security, ease, care and comfort are our top priorities, and we are confident our new Customer Care Ambassador team will ensure a positive and seamless experience for travellers as they navigate through the exciting features this facility has to offer”.
The Ambassador program will serve as a complement to our already well-established and world-famous White Hat Volunteer program. The 440 White Hat volunteers will take their bright smile, wealth of YYC knowledge and well-recognized uniform into the new two-million square foot International Terminal. Continuing to provide their valuable service to guests and passengers looking for information on wayfinding, and things to see and do at our world-class airport, just as they have done for the past 25 years. The two programs together will provide a guest and passenger experience second to none in the world.
YYC is proud to be creating over 150 jobs with the addition of the Customer Care Ambassador Program, just another example of how the Authority continues to service as an economic driver for our region.
