(Calgary, AB) - Calgary International Airport (YYC) was pleased to welcome the first Canadian landing of WestJet Airlines’ first Boeing 767-300ER wide-body aircraft. After its first stopover at YYC, the aircraft, which showcases the airline’s new logo, will be integrated into the company’s North American and transcontinental flight network.

“This new aircraft is an important moment for WestJet; one that will see the airline grow on the international scene, and we are proud to be part of it", says Stephan Poirier, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer for The Calgary Airport Authority. “The addition of the 767 to the WestJet fleet is a big milestone and passengers can look forward to seeing the new aircraft on the YYC-Hawaii route.”

“We’re pleased to be the first Canadian stop for the newest, and largest, addition to WestJet’s fleet and we know that, as an important hub for WestJet, we will see other exciting announcements in the future.”

“The arrival of our first wide-body aircraft opens the next chapter in WestJet’s evolution and growth,” said Bob Cummings, WestJet Executive Vice-President, Commercial. “With the arrival of our first wide-body aircraft, we will, for example, offer Canadians from cities across our network the chance to fly non-stop to Europe.”

YYC has been WestJet’s home base since the airline’s inception in 1996. Now one of Canada’s largest airlines, WestJet and its regional airline, WestJet Encore, operate an average of 114 flights per day out of YYC.
