YYC Powers Down for Earth Hour

March 29, 2010   |
YYC continues to build and develop airport facilities with leading sustainability designs and once again reduced its energy consumption numbers in support of Earth Hour with a reduction of 28.8 per cent on March 27, 2010.

Calgary Airport Authority electricians and airport partners worked together to successfully reduce energy consumption at YYC between 8:30–9:30 p.m. by turning off non-emergency lights and mechanical systems at YYC, all without affecting life safety systems, impacting operations or inconveniencing the travelling public.

YYC’s commitment to environmental leadership includes designing, building and maintaining YYC facilities with sustainable features. As Canada’s first GoGreen airport, YYC will continue to implement leading edge initiatives and technologies to grow the airport to meet the needs of the travelling public and airport partners without compromising environmental standards.
