Calgary Airport Authority Selects Winning Images for its ‘Capture Alberta Through Your Lens’ Photo Contest

Calgary, AB) – From the hundreds of submissions accepted, The Calgary Airport Authority has made its selections for its ‘Capture Alberta Through Your Lens’ Photo Contest. The images will be featured in the new International Terminal, which will be opening later this year and is the largest and most ambitious airport expansion currently underway in Canada. The pictures, which feature scenic sights of the city of Calgary and surrounding areas, will help welcome millions of visitors travelling from around the world to YYC and will provide one of the first impressions of the city and region the airport serves. 

“All of the photographs submitted were remarkable. We really wanted to show visitors from around the world all of the energy and beauty our extraordinary city and region has to offer,” said Garth Atkinson, President & Chief Executive Officer for The Calgary Airport Authority. “It was a tough decision, but the winning snapshots truly captured the essence of Calgary and Alberta. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all of photographers who participated.” 

The winners will also receive a $500 cash prize and get an exclusive sneak peek tour of the new International Terminal at Calgary International Airport before it opens to the public. The selected images were provided by the following talented individuals:

The new International Terminal, opening on October 31, 2016 will more than double the size of terminal facilities. The facility will span 186,000 square metres and features 24 new gates, streamlined customs and connections services, advanced screening and boarding processes along with 50 new shops and services. The terminal will provide much needed airport capacity, vital to airport partners’ growth and development and will solidify YYC’s position as an important economic generator for the city, region and province.
