Safety measure effective immediately in Canada

OTTAWA, Oct. 15, 2016 /CNW/ - To protect Canadian passengers and flight crews, Transport Canada issued a Notice to Airmen on October 14, 2016 advising airlines and air operators that Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones are no longer allowed in any aircraft effective immediately. This safety measure applies to both carry-on and checked baggage on flights within Canada and is in compliance with the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations.

Transport Canada officials are reaching out to airlines so they can take the necessary steps to protect passengers and crew. The department is also in close contact with the Federal Aviation Administration in the United States to exchange safety information.
