Frontier Airlines enters Canadian marketplace offering ultra-low cost flights between Calgary and Denver

Calgary, Alberta (May 31, 2018) – Today, The Calgary Airport Authority welcomed Frontier Airlines (Frontier), making Calgary the first Canadian destination for the ultra-low cost carrier. Frontier, based out of Denver, Colorado, will now provide non-stop seasonal service between Calgary and Denver three times a week. The new route will make it easier for Calgarians and their American counterparts to experience everything these sister cities have to offer.

“With another year of passenger growth underway, we’re excited to continue providing new travel options to our guests,” said The Calgary Airport Authority President and CEO, Bob Sartor. “We aim to continue this pattern – encouraging more visitors to experience our well-known destination and provide more opportunities for our Canadian guests to travel internationally.”

The launch of Frontier was strategically timed with the summer peak travel season, enabling guests an easy, affordable way to experience all that Calgary has to offer.

Calgary and Denver share the spirit of “western hospitality”, ranchlands and the Rocky Mountain range. The new DEN-YYC route will serve travellers from all over the United States, bringing new visitors to Calgary.

“Calgary is the city where potential and opportunity meet,” said Mary Moran, President and CEO, Calgary Economic Development.  “As the gateway to regional and global markets, more air service only increases YYC Calgary International Airport’s position as an important economic partner to our city. We are excited for Frontier’s investment in the city.”
