Success of direct flights to Seoul leads YYC to introduce seasonal service

Calgary, AB, July 27, 2010 – Today, Korean Air officially launched seasonal service between Seoul/Incheon and Calgary International Airport (YYC) to meet the demand for summer visitors between the two regions.

"We are pleased to welcome Korean Air to YYC," said Stephan Poirier, vice president and chief commercial officer for The Calgary Airport Authority. "Connecting Seoul to YYC is another important link to Asia for Calgary and Alberta. Korean Air is a great addition to our airline family and we look forward to having them here year-round very soon."

This new service started Sunday, July 25, with the arrival of a Boeing 777-200 aircraft to YYC. Korean Air flight 2076 will operate Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, departing Calgary at 3:50 p.m. and arriving in Seoul at 6:20 p.m. the following day. The return flight, Korean Air 2075, also operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and will depart Seoul/Incheon at 6:30 p.m. and arrive in Calgary at 2:00 p.m. the same day. The service will continue through to Thursday, August 26.

"We anticipate strong loads and demand for this service that meets the needs of the vacationing public," says John Jackson, Korean Air’s director of marketing and sales for the Americas.

Korean Air is the first Asian carrier to operate to Calgary since the Open Sky agreement between Korea and Canada in 2009. With increasing demand for the flight, Korean Air expects to increase frequencies and operate regularly in the future.
