From packing and parking to going through security and requesting accessible support services, here’s five important hacks to help guest navigate holiday travel at YYC.

1. Ask for accessibility assistance

YYC’s White Hat Volunteers, Customer Care Ambassadors and Pre-Board Pals are available to help guests navigate a barrier-free airport experience by providing wayfinding, mobility, translation, and emotional support services. Visit YYC.com/accessibility to fill out an accessible request form or call the InfoCentre at 403 735 1234. For any support needed between check-in and the gate, please contact the airline.

2. Pack savvy

Check out the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) travel checklists for general information to reduce and avoid delays in the security process.

Seasonal items that should be packed in check-in bags rather than carry-on include wrapped gifts, snow globes, holiday crackers, and liquids over 100ml.

3. Plan your arrival and parking

There’s plenty of parking at and around YYC with affordable parking options including covered parkades, Economy and Overheight lots or nearby with partners like Park & Jet and Park2Go.

There are also several ground transportation options available including taxis, sedans, Calgary Transit, shuttle buses and ride share companies.

Visit yyc.com/parking

4. Arrive early and pre-book your spot in security

Relax in comfort, not in traffic! Considering the anticipated high volume of guests, leave yourself additional time before you fly. Arrive at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight to navigate the check-in, baggage, and screening processes.

Take advantage of YYC Express, a program that allows guests to book a time to go through security screening via a dedicated queue.

5. Treat yourself to a smooth and elevated journey

Choose from local favourites like Vin Room, Rocky Mountain Chocolate and LB Taphouse, which features Calgary’s Last Best Eatery & Brewpub locally brewed beers and gins.

T’was the night before your flight and you slept like a rock. Early flights are a breeze when you book your stay at the recently renovated Delta or Marriott Calgary Airport In-Terminal.

With over 100 shopping and dining options, there are lots of ways to indulge in extra memorable experiences or find that perfect last-minute gift.
