The G7 Summit and YYC

Public Advisories:

YYC Calgary International Airport is preparing to welcome the world for the 2025 G7 Leaders’ Summit June 15 to 17. We will be fully operational and open to the public throughout the summit, however the airport will be busy and travellers are advised to allow extra time to arrive, check in and pass through security.

Please be aware of the following public advisories, implemented for the safety and security of all airport personnel, partners and guests:

• There will be an increased security presence in public areas of YYC – travellers should allow for potential delays in accessing parkades and curbside.
• For information on individual flight schedules during G7, please check with your airline.
• As we prepare to welcome the G7 leaders, certain areas of the airfield will be temporarily closed. To ensure the safety and security of all agencies involved, photography and videography of military aircraft, law enforcement personnel and their operations will be strictly prohibited from June 9 to June 20. This restriction applies to all arriving and departing aircraft throughout the duration of the summit.
• YYC Calgary International Airport and YBW Springbank Airport are strict ‘No Drone Zones.’ This means drones are prohibited within 3.5 nautical miles (6.5km) of the airport centre, and 1 nautical mile (1.8km) of any heliport.
• During the summit, aircraft viewing is restricted to the Edward H. Laborde viewing area at 15 Street and Aviation Road NE. This is also a Dedicated Demonstration Zone

Road Closures

The Airport Trail Tunnel will be closed Sunday, June 15 to Wednesday, June 18.

Detour: Travellers heading to the airport from the east side of Calgary should use Country Hills Boulevard NE, to Barlow Trail NE, as an alternative route. Airport Trail NE will remain open from Deerfoot Trail NE, to Barlow Trail NE - only the tunnel itself will be inaccessible. Additionally, the off-ramp from 19 Street NE, to westbound Airport Trail NE, will also be closed during this period.

There will be no stopping or parking on 36 Street NE north of Barlow Trail to Country Hills Blvd NE.

Access to McCall Way NE will be restricted to persons with work ID for this area.

Expect delays on Aero Drive NE, as no stopping will be permitted.

No stopping or parking around the perimeter of the airport property will be permitted between Saturday, June 14 and Wednesday, June 18. Other temporary closures or stoppages may be in effect as delegates are moved out of or into the airport through rolling motorcades. Please abide by officer directions.
