YYC breaks records, continues momentum in 2023 Wednesday, May 1, 2024 | Catgories: News Release Calgary, AB – The Calgary Airport Authority released its 2023 annual report at its annual general meeting today. The report caps off a record-breaking year for The Authority and highlights its efforts to further position YYC Calgary International Airport as one of North America’s leading hubs for connectivity. “2023 was a year of significant growth and renewal,” said Chris Dinsdale, President and CEO of The Calgary Airport Authority. “We saw astounding growth in guest numbers, flight partnerships and non-stop routes from YYC. We have managed to bounce back from the pandemic, and we are proud to be even stronger and better positioned than we were in 2019.” 2023 Report Highlights In 2023, YYC Calgary International Airport greeted a record 18.5 million guests , surpassing the previous record of 18 million guests in 2019. Summer 2023 was our busiest season ever, with 1.95 million passengers in July and 1.97 million passengers in August. The Authority’s revenue for the year was $497 million, 10% higher than anticipated and 19.6% higher than in 2022. Welcomed new carriers including Porter Airlines to give guests more choices to connect to sought-after destinations. YYC now offers non-stop connectivity to more than 90 destinations around the world. Continued the West Runway Rehabilitation project including entering into an agreement with PCL to execute the project. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Celebrated the successes of our culinary and hospitality partners including the Calgary Airport Marriott, which was recognized as Airport Hotel of the Year by The Airport Food and Beverage Awards. Furthered our commitment to accessibility by proudly welcoming the globally recognized Hidden Disabilities Sunflower to YYC. Improved and modernized our technology offerings by migrating to new self-serve SITA kiosks, offering eduroam connectivity to the academic community and working with our partners to create the new Aerospace Innovation Hub.
