CALGARY – With 19.4 million journeys in 2025, YYC Calgary International Airport grew for the fourth consecutive year, surpassing the previous record of 18.9 million set in 2024. 2025’s passenger volume represents more than 500,000 additional travellers year over year, reflecting continued demand for travel to and from Alberta.
“More travellers through YYC means more opportunity for our city and province – from tourism and trade to innovation and investment,” says Chris Dinsdale, Chief Executive Officer. “We’re proud of the work our teams and partners do every day to deliver safe, smooth and welcoming journeys, and we continue to invest in YYC to keep pace with the growth we’re seeing across Calgary and Alberta.”
Together with our airline partners, YYC connected the region to 108 destinations in 2025, including 15 new routes launched throughout the year.
2025 also brought historic summer volumes. For the first time, we saw more than two million passengers travel through YYC per month during July and August. As passenger traffic grows, Calgary Airports continues to advance major projects that improve the guest experience and support long-term growth, including the completion of the West Runway Rehabilitation project, opening Phase 1 of YYC’s Centralized Security Screening area, announcing the YYC AeroNex aviation hub, and breaking ground on a new engine maintenance facility, built in partnership with Lufthansa Technik.
Growth isn’t slowing down. In the first month of 2026, Calgary Airports and its airline partners announced two new destinations for 2026: São Paolo, Brazil (operated by WestJet) and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (operated by new airline partner, Etihad Airways), expanding choice for travellers. Both destinations represent milestones for our province – the first non-stop route to South America, as well as the first non-stop route to the Middle East, strengthening YYC’s global reach. In addition to these two new routes, Air Canada is adding more connectivity to sunny destinations out of YYC – Cancun and Puerto Vallarta – with service scheduled to begin in December.
