New Pre-Board Screening opens in concourse B to improve passenger wait times during peak periods

| Catgories:

Calgary, Alberta (October 28, 2019) -- Today, to improve wait times and improve our guests' experience a new domestic Pre-Board Screening (PBS) location will open at concourse B.

The Calgary Airport Authority and Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) will open the new location with three lines (two regular and one lane for priority/families/accessible guests) staffed during peak times Sunday to Friday, 7 to 11 a.m. When PBS B is not available, guests can use PBS A and C.

"We know guests have had long waits at peak times to be screened for domestic flights, and this additional location will help increase capacity and make travel faster and easier," said Chris Miles, Vice President Operations, The Calgary Airport Authority.

Before today, CATSA processed passengers with 10 lines at YYC Calgary International Airport. The additional screening location will increase the capacity to screen by three lines representing a 30 per cent capacity increase.

Trusted Travellers (NEXUS users) wishing to use dedicated lanes will continue using PBS A & C, as PBS B will not have this service. PBS B is an interim solution while the airport and CATSA look at long-term solutions to consolidate domestic screening into one location in the future.

The interim PBS B will reduce the volume at PBS A & C, but guests may still experience occasional wait time at all locations. The Calgary Airport Authority has been working with CATSA to help communicate wait times to guests both at the terminal and online. For up-to-date wait times, visit CATSA's website or download the CATSA app.
