The Calgary Airport Authority statement on Lynx Air operations Monday, February 26, 2024 | Catgories: News Release The Calgary Airport Authority (The Authority) has learned of Lynx Air's decision to cease operations as of 12:01 a.m. MT on Monday, Feb. 26 after filing for protection from its creditors under the Companies Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA). We are sad to lose such a collaborative partner and member of our airport community. Our thoughts are with the passengers and employees impacted by this sudden news and encourage impacted passengers to refer to Lynx’s Frequently Asked Questions for more information. To assist guests affected, The Authority has placed staff at our Information Desk and throughout the terminal to provide guests direction to Lynx Air representatives or assist guests with finding information on Lynx’s website. Passengers who have flights booked with Lynx Air must contact the airline for details about their itinerary www.FlyLynx.com. The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has also issued information for those affected by Lynx Air’s cessation of service available here: Lynx Air passengers - Important information about cessation of air operations | Canadian Transportation Agency (otc-cta.gc.ca) The aviation industry is working together to ensure volume and capacity are added for Feb. 25 through to March 6 to enable passengers to book on alternate airlines at a discounted or fixed price during a busy travel time. Competition in our marketplace is important. This is an unfortunate circumstance and one we never want to see for Canadian travellers. However, this is not the first time this has happened in Canada. This is a dynamic industry and heightened competition since the pandemic has meant significant seat capacity on popular routes leading to lower fares for consumers. Unfortunately, this business environment was untenable for Lynx. The Authority remains dedicated to creating exceptional travel experiences for our guests, investing in infrastructure and fostering strong partnerships with our stakeholders.
